A New Way Forward for Divorcing Couples

About OM's Divorce Retreats

Divorce Retreats offer couples with a unique opportunity to focus on the negotiation of their separation or divorce away from the pressures and scheduling challenges of daily life.  With a team of trained divorce mediators, over two and one half days, clients are provided with the space, calm, and expert guidance to kick-start their negotiation by working though a checklist of topics required for a legal separation or divorce in New York.

Who Can Benefit

Divorce Retreats are most suitable for separating and divorcing couples who wish to work out the terms of their settlement amicably, efficiently, and affordably, and are ready to engage in a series of concentrated sessions to work toward a mutually acceptable settlement. Our mediation retreats are also appropriate for engaged couples seeking to mediate prenuptial agreements, and married couples wishing to design postnuptial agreements.

Private & Exclusive Properties

OM offers our Divorce Retreats twice monthly at exclusive, private hotel and spa properties across New York, including a boutique hotel in Manhattan's SoHo neighborhood.  In addition to our New York network of properties, custom retreats can be arranged throughout the United States, or internationally, upon request.

What to Expect

OM curates an experience that is comfortable, uninterrupted, and collaborative.  Couples should expect their weekend to be focused, with down time for meals and personal rejuvenation.

Clients will participate in about five two-hour mediation sessions with our mediators (Friday late afternoon, Saturday morning, Saturday afternoon, Sunday morning, and Sunday afternoon) with some "homework" conversations to take place between sessions.  Each participant will have their own private room and the option to book spa and wellness appointments between mediation sessions.

Expert Guidance

OM's mediators facilitate sessions so clients can best negotiate their separation agreement, covering topics including equitable distribution, spousal maintenance, parenting schedules and decision making, child support, and other issues relevant to the couple's unique situation.

During the mediation process, couples may consult with mutually acceptable subject matter experts (i.e. accountants, appraisers, etc.) to enhance their understanding on certain topics.  Further, each party will have the opportunity to consult with their own attorney, should they seek individualized legal advice over the weekend, or upon review of their draft separation agreement.

Getting Started

To learn more about Divorce Retreats, and find out if it is right for your situation, please reach out via our online form, or call us directly at 212-710-9395.  A member of our team will get back to you within 24 hours.

Once a retreat is booked, our mediators set up a preliminary meeting (or video conference) with both participants to review the logistical aspects of the weekend, and explain what to prepare for a productive retreat.
